LECTURE: Cannabis policy in The Netherlands: has the Dutch war on weed ended?
After decades of stagnation and increasing repression, the Dutch government seems to have finally turned the page on cannabis policy. The government is planning experiments with regulated cannabis production to supply coffeeshops in ten cities. Because of the proposed limitations, these experiments have received criticism from different sides. But one thing is sure: change is coming. The coffeeshop industry is trying to unite coffeeshops in order to have a say in the process towards regulation or legalization. Some fear the coffeeshops won’t survive legalization. In his talk, Derrick Bergman will give an update of recent developments and analyze the risks and opportunities for the future.
